R or anyone, what's the current status of LaFace Records since LA became the President of Arista?? Has it been totally dissolved or is it strictly and A&R Department now??? What's up?

I'm wondering what happened to some of the artist on the Laface roster like Donnel Jones and Sam Salter??

Actually LaFace was bought by BMG/Arista and all of the artists got absorbed into the Arista roster. They still use the LaFace 'logo' on a few of the artists like OutKast, but the label doesn't exist anymore. Everything is run out of NY.

As for Donell, I talked 2 one of his A&R people and he's recording (should be done now). I don't know what will become of Sam Salter. His first album was one of THE MOST SLEPT ON albums I've heard. If anyone doesn't have that "It's On Tonite" go check it out. Classic R&B! He had another album finished in 2000, but when the buyout came and you know how politics are, I don't know what will become of him.

Thanks for the insight R. It's nice to hear Donnell is recording. A lot of people don't remember that he won and AMA last year for Best New Soul Artist. You're right, Sam Salter's 1st Lp was slept on big time!!! I'm sure he'll be back!! Is Candy Tookes still one of Donnell's A&R's? I remember her from my days at FSU as well, especially when she left to come to the ATL to work for Pebbitone. My memory is too much sometimes <LOL>!!
