I want to lose weight and get into modeling. My cousin who is 5 foot 4 and I would have to say 190+ lbs. She says she is a 16 and I would have to agree. I would have to say a 16/17. Shit maybe even an 18. I gained weight over the years. She asked me what my goal size was. I said I wanted to be a 7 again. She told me that was not realistic bc I was 18 at the time. She says I am a woman and should be wearing women's sizes. Basically plus size. She says all women (18 and older) should be wearing plus sie bc it looks healthier. She told me high school is over so I should just settle with wearing plus size bc the average woman wears plus size. I saw she has bumped her head and is telling me this bc she is used to me being overweight. I think she knows her days as a 6 are over. She had three kids and her skin is loose, drooping, hanging. She used to be a 5/6 and she blew up to a 20 (although she insisted she was smaller.). What do you think her problem is?!?!?!

Wow..I do think it could be an insecurity issue. It's just not healty to be over weight and that's just plain and simple. She probably believe's she's so far off from getting her shape back that she has no hope and tries to find good things about her issue. Like for example if your not a so attractive person you might say that attractive people are mean spirited like Monique mad a book about "skinny women are evil" (or something like that)lol. A girl around my age 18 shouldn't be wearing a 20, I am sorry. I wear a size 4 and never went over a 6 all my teenage life, and i'm not fraile skinny I have meat on my bones. I would say i have an athletic build. The main point is don't be of the world...be in it. Or however my granny use to say that:D .

Good advice! Anyway Im not a 20 anymore thank god. She really didnt congratulate me on that at all. I'm a 12. My cousin didn't seem happy. It's good that you never went over a 6. I thought the same way but shit happens. As for me there was really no excuse to gain weight but I was mentally unstable at the time I gained weight. My mom knew I needed help and refused to give it to me. She told me I was doing the things I was doing for attention. Honestly if more than one peer or teacher/adult tells a parent that his/her kid has issues,it's important. Now I'm in college and seeking the mental help I should have gotten years ago.

I would say do what u feel is right i mean either losing weight or gaining it should be ur choice and no else being big doesnt neccessarily mean u are healthy neither does being skinny its just goes how u live ur life and the choices u make in it thats my lil 2 cent.

Wow, this was an interesting thread.

I am ummm lets just say in my 30's, i am not a teenager, therefore i dont dress like a teenager, do teenager things and dont pull teenager men (is there such a thing lol)
I am a confortable size 16, and i look good with it, now im not tooting my own horn, i just know me. I got big things and azz like whoa, so i dont think anything is wrong with being big, i dont think anything is wrong with being small, but i do think theres alot wrong with not being confortable with whatever size you are. As long as you are healty then hey, who are you hurting.
Ive also noticed that more men are going for the healthy looking women these days.

Hey girl. I am new to the board and wanted to say kudos on having such determination in losing wieght. It is not easy and you will be so happy when all of your hard work pays off for you. I had and still have the same problem you have, used to be skinny, then blew up and wondering what the hell went wrong. In high school I was all of 115, if that, and wanted to be bigger since I didnt have any curves or anything. Then bigger came and it went overbaord. Before I knew it, I was wearing size 9/10s. Never thought that I would be in the double digits. I am a dancer as well (by dancer I mean hip-hop, modern, and west african) so you can imagine what it was like to walk in to a dance class with a leotard barely hanging on. My ballet instructor came up to me in the middle of class one time and whispered "You might need to start thinking about watching your size" and moved on. It was all I could do to stay focused that day.

Then last year I had my son and blew all the way up to a 16. Please let me tell you that I think I cried for an entire year everytime I looked in the mirror. I was depressed and it was really a scarey situation. However, even with all those obstacles, this year I had had enough. I was tired of seeing everyone else doing what I wanted to do and not me. So this summer I put myself of a plan and did everything in my power to stick to it. I came down from a size 16 all the way to a current size 7. Yeah I had to get up at 5 in the morning to go running and yeah I had to cut back on what I ate but it is so paying off now. I am almost where I need to be and I should be getting my own site up and running by October. Tomika's website has been my blue print and I must say that it has really done wonders.

So its not impossible. You just have to have determination and faith in God and with God all this are possible. Pray on it and claim it and then work work work! Keep ya head up and we will be seeing your pics posted on here soon!

God loves you!
