High Crimes is a good movie. It served its purpose to entertain but it left something to be desired. Kind of like a bacon sandwich without the mayo and cheese. It’s cool, but it’s incomplete. The combination of Morgan Freeman and Ashley Judd works well but the plot of a woman going out to save her husband accused of murder worked up until the supposedly depth of the plot started. First, unlike Kiss the Girl, I never got the feeling of true chemistry between the characters. I also never got the sense of courtroom drama. Morgan Freeman was suppose to be the best military lawyer there is but the movie never displayed that. The good thing is that it kept you interested and the ending, although a little anti-climatic, it was different enough to make you pick up the last bacon crumb on the napkin. The most disappointing part of the movie is the way in which the court rooms aspect of the movie came to an end. I was never convinced that the military wanted to make the case go away. But again, it was not a total disappointment and the only robbery that took place was at the concession stand. Even with the five-dollar coupon they stuck it to me. Go figure… I can see a multi-million dollar movie for $6.25 but I have to pay $8.00 for twenty cents worth of soda and thirty-five cents worth of popcorn.
